Description

Skip takeout! Get tender chicken thighs coated in a sweet, savory honey-garlic glaze, tossed with slurpable egg noodles.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 8 ounces egg noodles or ramen noodles
  • 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey (or maple syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, and rice vinegar; set the sticky sauce aside. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the noodles according to package directions, then drain and set aside.
  2. Step 2: Heat the sesame oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the chicken pieces and cook for 5-7 minutes until they are browned and fully cooked through.
  3. Step 3: Reduce the heat to medium-low. Push the cooked chicken to one side of the skillet, add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) to the empty space, and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Step 4: Pour the prepared sticky sauce mixture over the chicken and garlic. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce reduces substantially and thickens to a glossy, sticky glaze that coats the chicken.
  5. Step 5: Add the drained cooked noodles directly into the skillet with the sticky garlic chicken. Toss thoroughly for 1-2 minutes until all the noodles are well-coated in the sauce. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, adding a splash of water or broth before sealing to prevent the noodles from drying out and sticking together excessively.
  • For best results when reheating, sauté the cold leftovers in a skillet over medium heat, adding 1-2 tablespoons of water or extra soy sauce to revive the glossy glaze without drying out the chicken.
  • Finish the dish with a generous sprinkle of toasted sesame seeds and thinly sliced green onions for fresh crunch and aroma that balances the savory, rich glaze.
  • Be careful not to burn the minced garlic in Step 3; sautéing it for just 30 seconds until fragrant is crucial—if it browns too much, the final sauce will taste bitter.
